I started working in the sugarcane farm at the age of seven like the other children in the haciendas. We worked under the heat of the sun and heavy rains. Our house is made up of nipa and sacks from the fertilizers used in the sugarcane field. During a rainy season, our house was like a swimming pool.

At the age of ten, my father and mother separated and my father did not allowed us to stay in our own house. My mother and my other siblings hooped on from one place to another just to have a roof over our heads. I experienced being physically and mentally abused.

My dilemma had begun when I graduated from high school. Our situation then would not allow me to pursue my tertiary education. I cried for a week and prayed. Ola! It wasn’t a magic it’s a Blessing.

I became a working student at SIMAG Training Center. SIMAG covered my FULL school fees plus a monthly allowance, school uniform, and supplies. It was not that easy but thank GOD, I graduated college with flying colors and passed the Teacher Licensure Examination. These incredible four years of experience in the SIMAG Training Center molded me to become a resilient, responsible, and open minded in all aspects of life. To my SIMAG Family thank you for all the support, love and care.

I am now working with a loving husband and a very beautiful child. “Life may bring us all its cruelness, stay strong and never give up, step closer and reach your dream.”
